ESET Security Review

ESET provides a variety of plans available for Windows, macOS, Android and Linux. These include a free plan that’s great for security basics, while the more expensive options come with features like parental controls and password management and data encryption. The most expensive package also has a gaming mode to restrict access to your computer’s hardware when you play.

The software doesn’t take long to install and setup is easy. It doesn’t bludgeon your computer with unnecessary software, as well. There are a few additional settings, but the majority of tools and features are located on the left sidebar.

A new feature, called Connected Home Monitor provides an easy-to-read representation of your network and all the devices connected to it. You can also use it to identify vulnerabilities such as open ports and weak router passwords.

Another standout feature is a pop-up window that appears every when you insert an USB storage device. You can decide to scan the drive immediately or have the program do so automatically, and should you choose not to do a full scan you can still run an on-demand check.

More advanced users will appreciate the ability to control the type and amount of much the suite scans. You can define the number of folders and files that the program must scan, as well as specific items like boot sectors and networks. You can also specify how deep the program should search archives if you want to restrict certain types of files.
